Dr. Diane Juras was born and raised in Annapolis, MD. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland in 1987, with a Bachelors in Biology. She then went on to graduate from Pennsylvania College of Optometry with a second Bachelors in Biology and a Doctorate of Optometry in 1991. Dr. Juras was honored to graduate in the top five percent of her class and awarded the Boden Scholarship for Academic Achievement, the Alumni Association Award for Outstanding Scholarship, Clinical Honors in Glaucoma and Pediatrics, and was inducted into the Beta Sigma Kappa International Honor Fraternity.
Dr. Juras moved to Charleston in 1990, where her early training included cataract and ocular disease, advanced contact lens fittings, pediatric eye care, and general optometry with several renowned ophthalmologists and optometrists. She was also a chair of the Clinical Advisory Board for a large national eye care company and had her work in clinical studies in Optometric Management published. In 2000, she opened her first Goose Island location and founded Coastal Vision Care in 2004. Dr. Juras has been a member of the American Optometric Association, the South Carolina Optometric Association, and the Coastal Carolina Optometric Society, as well as a member of the Board of Directors for the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Her volunteer acts include working with Camp Happy Days, Special Olympics of SC, Pet Helpers, the South Carolina Aquarium, and the Isle of Palms Exchange Club. Her mission is to give back as much as possible to the Charleston community that she loves.
